That Singin’ Vegan Chick ( @singinveganchic )
I love green tea.
Matcha, if I’m feeling particularly bougie. But drinking any green tea is generally a pleasant experience for me.
Not just drinking it, but MAKING it (especially matcha). Brewing the kettle, steeping the bags, mixing the sweetener in, drizzling the almond/soy milk, straining the bags, taking the first sip... Simple, yet pleasurable.
I did this twice today- in the comfort of my home since I wasn’t feeling well.
But I think the pleasure of simplicity got lost in the other complex emotions of the day.
Well, tonight, as I made my bed, I listened to Eckhart Tolle talk about “Living a Life of Balance” (that’s what the actual talk is called). He made a few points, but what stuck most was the idea of big events vs. small tasks.
There are only so many big events in life, and each of them has several small tasks leading up to and during.
99% of life is actually the smaller tasks. But we’re so focused on the bigger events we focus entirely on them.
Eventually they come and go, and we’re left to focus on another big event.
And if you’re completely focused on the future, you’re taking focus OUT of the present; you can’t possibly be performing at your highest.
It’s off-balance. It’d serve us better to focus more on present tasks and simply enjoy the rewards than obsess over a certain result.
Anyway, that was a damn mouthful.
You should go have a listen for yourself; it’ll make more sense in context lol.
Here’s to the next cup of green tea or whatever makes you happy 😆 🍵 ☕️ 🌺 🐦
