Wala Matari was abducted by Boko Haram from #Cameroon and taken across the border into #Nigeria where she spent two years hiding in the bush.
Eventually, she was rescued and is now living in a camp in Cameroon, alongside other people who have been displaced due to terrorist attacks in the Lake Chad region. “I go to church to drown my sorrows, to move on from the bad memories," she says.
On Wednesday's Day for the Remembrance of Victims of Terrorism, #UnitedNations Secretary-General @antonioguterres said: "Supporting victims of terrorism is one way in which we live up to our responsibility to defend their rights and our common humanity. By listening to them, we can also learn much about how best to unite our communities against terrorism." "Let us commit to showing victims that they are not alone, and that the international community stands in solidarity with them, wherever they may be." 📸: UN Photo / Eskinder Debebe
