Among all of the literature that exists, 'Qutb Mushtari' is perhaps the one of most intrigue in the Qutb Shahi history, for it was written by Mulla Wajhi, who was a court poet under the Golconda kings. That particular work, written in Dakhni Urdu (which we speak in Hyd) of his is about Mohd Quli Qutb Shah and his supposed lover Bhagmati.(pic is of them)
According to the book, Quli Qutb Shah, the 4th (or 5th ruler if you consider Subhan Quli) has a dream about Bhagmati after which he works towards finding her and later convinces his father Ibrahim Qutb Shah, (3rd king), to let him marry her. However, even this isn't proof enough that Bhagmati existed, because it is still a matter of debate.
Unlike the courtesan Taramati, whose grave is in the Qutb Shahi tombs complex, there is no trace of her Bhagmati's tomb. We have Ferishta's version of Mohd Quli Qutb Shah's love story, but he is not considered a good source given his anti-Deccan bias. The 'Qutb Mushtari' does make for a good read. This book was translated into Urdu by Prof. M. N. Sayeed, a well-known expert on Dakhni Urdu who runs an institute for independent research in Bangalore.
For those who don't know, Dakhni Urdu, which was the spoken and court language of the Bahmani (1347-1518) and the Qutb Shahi Kingdom (1518-1687), which built Hyderabad. It is essentially an evolution of Urdu as it came down south, when the language got influenced with Kannada, Marathi and Telugu.
What we speak in, in Hyderabad, is the same, but most don't realise what it is called as the influence of standard is more. In fact, the dialect of the language changes from place to place in the Deccan, where it evolved. The earliest literature of Dakhni can be traced to the mid 15th century under the Bahmani kingdom.
Was lucky to meet him thanks to @karmalli Follow @thehyderabadhistoryproject short interviews of his which I will post subsequently.
