#RNJNEWS: N.J. man who shot woman, then posted video singing about it, sentenced to prison
SOMERVILLE, NJ (Somerset County) – A Somerset County man who shot and killed a woman, then ordered a pizza and posted about the shooting on social media, was sentenced to state prison on Thursday, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson.
Tamar Reaves, 20, of Franklin Township, was sentenced to 27 years in state prison, with 23 years to be served without parole, for his conviction for first-degree aggravated manslaughter, second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose and second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun. He pled guilty to those charges on April 2, 2019, Robertson said,
The conviction stems from a shooting that occurred on August 9, 2018 at 7:50 a.m. on Battle Place in Franklin Township. At that time, Reaves, aka “T-Mac,” followed his 18-year-old victim from a convenience store to her relative’s home, and shot her in the back of her neck with a 9mm handgun, Robertson said.
Reaves initially fled to a friend’s home after committing the crime and ultimately went to his grandmother’s Franklin Township home. Once there, he ordered a pizza and made several posts to various social media accounts, including a photo of the pizza, as well as a video of himself singing the lyrics of a song which mirrored the circumstances of the shooting he just committed, Robertson said.
